Chevre,
Coming from the intense introspection of Yom Kippur, our annual Friday night Shabbat and Sukkot celebration is always a joy. We’ll spend time in the sukkah – how much depends on the weather – and wave the lulav and etrog – as we make note of Sukkot’s themes of human vulnerability and God’s providence.
This year we will recognize the legacy of Elie Wiesel, a voice of conscience on behalf of the Jewish community and for the world at large. We’ll explore that legacy by listening to a speech that he gave at the White House during the presidency of Bill Clinton, titled “The Peril of Indifference.” After the video, we’ll have a chance for dialogue about his message.
Our hosts will be Gail and Chris Wright: 159 Timber Hill Rd, Buffalo Grove. Gail’s contact info is: Gailwrig@gmail.com; (847) 612-7387.
Please respond right away so that they can organize our potluck dinner efficiently: Wright Sukkot Potluck Dinner.
